Pax Christi Pennsylvania was formed in the summer of 2025 by the Pennsylvania local chapters (in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and West Chester) of Pax Christi USA, a section of Pax Christi International, the official Catholic peace movement.

“Pax Christi Pennsylvania is committed to rejecting war, violence, and systemic racism while promoting the Gospel of nonviolence, disarmament, economic and interracial justice, and care for creation. Rooted in the nonviolence of the Cross, we strive to model the Peace of Christ through prayer, study and action. Inspired by the nonviolent Jesus, Pax Christi Pennsylvania works to place peacemaking at the center of the Catholic Church’s life and mission. We are a Catholic and ecumenical organization that partners with parishes, religious communities, and Catholic agencies. We also collaborate with other faith-based and secular organizations that share our dedication to nonviolent peacemaking, social justice, and environmental stewardship. Together, we seek to build a Church and a world shaped by justice, compassion, and the transforming power of nonviolence.“
